Westlake Village is a city in Los Angeles County upon its western attach with Ventura County. It incorporated in 1981 becoming the 82nd municipality of Los Angeles County. The population of the city was 8,029 at the 2020 census, down from 8,270 at the 2010 census.

The city is named after the master-planned community of Westlake that was complex called Westlake Village to avoid confusion afterward the Los Angeles neighborhood of the thesame name. History

About 3,000 years ago, Chumash Indians moved into the region and lived by hunting rabbits and further game, and accretion grains and acorns. He wrote: “We are upon a plain of considerable extent and much beauty, forested on all parts by stimulate oaks and oak trees, with much pasturage and water.” Crespí named the place El triunfo del Dulcísimo Nombre de Jesús (in English: The Triumph of the Sweetest Name of Jesus) to a camping place by a creek.

Other villages were found throughout the valley, including Satwiwa and two villages close Ventu Park Road in Newbury Park. These Chumash villages are believed by archeologists to have first been settled higher than 2,000 years ago. Another village was located by Lake Sherwood.

In 1795, the Place became allowance of one of the first Spanish estate grants, Rancho Simi, given to the Pico family of California. When Mexico won independence from Spain in 1821, Alta California became Mexican territory, and the Rancho Simi take over was declared in 1842.

This boundary which divides the Incorporated City of Westlake Village, and Thousand Oaks ration of Westlake Village, crosses on summit of the Westlake Golf Course, halfway together with Lakeview Canyon and Lindero Canyon roads, and half of the Lake itself. The City of Westlake Village is located approximately 40 miles (64 km) West of downtown Los Angeles in the Conejo Valley. Other communities in the surrounding area include Thousand Oaks, Oak Park, Agoura Hills, Calabasas, Newbury Park, and Malibu.

Climate

Hispanic or Latino of any race were 533 persons (6.4%).

The Census reported that 8,142 people (98.5% of the population) lived in households, 121 (1.5%) lived in non-institutionalized society quarters, and 7 (0.1%) were institutionalized.

There were 3,262 households, out of which 971 (29.8%) had children under the age of 18 animate in them, 1,985 (60.9%) were married couples lively together, 292 (9.0%) had a female householder subsequent to no husband present, 119 (3.6%) had a male householder considering no wife present. There were 103 (3.2%) unmarried partnerships. 712 households (21.8%) were made taking place of individuals, and 376 (11.5%) had someone full of beans alone who was 65 years of age or older. According to the 2010 United States Census, Westlake Village had a median household allowance of $112,083, with 3.9% of the population living below the federal poverty line.

2000

As of the census of 2000, there were 8,469 people, 3,270 households, and 2,491 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,605.9 inhabitants per square mile (620.0 inhabitants/km). There were 3,347 housing units at an average density of 642.3 per square mile (248.0/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 89.70% White, 6.08% Asian, 0.82% African American, 0.13% Native American, 0.07% Pacific Islander, 1.02% from extra races, and 2.17% from two or more races, plus one of California’s largest communities for Russian American and American Jewish ancestral groups. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 4.61% of the population. Many locals (the Conejo Valley and Simi Valley region in general) were of Italian, Portuguese and Spanish ethnic origins.^{[citation needed]}

The median pension for a household in the city was $120,089, and the median allowance for a relations was $148,885. The per-capita allowance for the city was $137,355 in 2007, while the median home price was (as of 2007) $1,163,800.

Economy

Dole Food Company is headquartered in Westlake Village. In 1994, Dole announced that it would finalize its plans to construct its world headquarters upon a 30-acre (120,000 m) site owned by the company, located north of the Ventura Freeway in Westlake Village. The decision had been delayed by groundwater contamination tests and reviewing of reachable site seek revisions. Dole was received to submit its plans for utter approval by the Westlake Village City Council on February 9, 1994. The community is in the Las Virgenes Unified School District (LVUSD). Residents are zoned to White Oak Elementary School in Westlake Village, Lindero Canyon Middle School in Agoura Hills, and Agoura High School in Agoura Hills.

An off-campus center of California Lutheran University is located approachable in Thousand Oaks.

The Lash (1930) was with filmed at Russell Ranch, while Danger Ahead (1940) was shot upon Westlake Boulevard. Baxter (GTE corporate headquarters at the time) was dubbed for a police station in the film Demolition Man (1993), while scenes from Gridiron Gang (2006) were shot at Westlake High School. Other movies filmed here include The Karate Kid (1984), American Pie (1999) and Bridesmaids (2011).

Two episodes of Charlie’s Angels (1976–1981) were filmed in Westlake Village: The Killing Kind (1976) and Angel in a Box (1979).

Bonnie and Clyde (1967) features scenes from Skelton Canyon Road (Westlake Boulevard),
while the TV series The FBI (1965–1974) was partly filmed at The Landing.
